Season 1 is the first season of HBO's series Lovecraft Country. It premiered on HBO on August 16, 2020[1] and ran for ten consecutive episodes.
On July 2, 2021, HBO announced that the series would not be returning for a second season.[2]
Synopsis[]
Lovecraft Country follows the trio on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of Freeman's missing father. The journey begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.

- HBO Has set the premiere of its drama series Lovecraft Country for 9 p.m. Sunday, August 16.[11]
- Peele will be executive produce along with Misha Green, J.J. Abramsand Ben Stephenson.[12]
- The pilot will be written by Misha Green and she also serves as showrunner.[12]
- David Knoller will also executive produce.[13] He executive producer on Episode 1.[11]
- Yann Demangeis set to direct and executive produce the first episode.[14]
- Daniel Sackheim will also executive produce and direct.[8] He directed Episodes 2 and 3.[11]

- “Lovecraft Country” premiered to 760,000 total viewers in its 9 p.m. linear slot on the premium cabler.[16]
- On HBO Max it was the number 1 most watched show on Sunday night.[16]
- Looking at digital only, the “Lovecraft” debut delivered the second largest total for an HBO premiere since “Watchmen” and the “Chernobyl” premiere back in spring 2019.[16]
- Misha Green had a specific vision in mind for the creatues/beasts and turned to Oscar-award winning creative studio Framestore as a creative partner in reimagining these monsters.[17]
