Gilbert is a minor character in Lovecraft Country. He is portrayed by Keith Arthur Bolden.
He is Dora's father who died during the Tulsa race massacre protecting his family.

After warning Verton earlier in the day about disciplining his daughter, the two of them come together to defend their homes. They even come to Leti's rescue as she's chased down the street by a lynch mob. They shoot at the men before helping Leti inside. They ask her about the men who attacked her, and she reveals that there’s a truck of them at the end of the block. Gilbert passes out guns to each of them. He goes to keep an eye out on the roof while Martha and Nana Hattie guard the front. Unfortunately, they are unable to protect themselves as their house is set on fire and they burn within.[1]
